EXPANDED PRACTICE

Becoming Slug: A Cross-Species Meditation

Yueyang Pan

When we exist within a near-two-dimensional plane, slowness dissolves the urgency and linearity of time. Time shifts from a chain of dots we must chase to a diffuse and continuously present state. By imitating other forms of life, might we free ourselves from the human-centred anxiety of time, and achieve a self-restoration?

This project aims to establish a dialogue about bodily connection, enabling audiences to enter the perceptual dimension of slugs through tactile interaction between humans and these creatures. It offers a novel spatiotemporal experience, thereby alleviating the anxiety stemming from fast-paced lifestyles and fostering a sense of healing.
