Finding A Refuge of Time

In an accelerated society, people develop different forms of temporal anxiety and seek utopian escapes. My work explores how we coexist with time. I transform a zoetrope: as it spins, static objects become moving shadows, evoking time’s passage and the return of memory. Inside it, I build utopias of youth, middle age, and old age. Up close, viewers may immerse in dreamlike escapes; from afar, these anxious stages appear as fleeting moments. The work suggests that accepting time’s fragmentariness may ease anxiety and create a new relationship with time.
