Yaks and Chickens on the Meadow

Yudian’s project takes Tibetan yak culture as its starting point, translating plateau wisdom methodologies into the urban context of London. It speculatively designs how the “happy chicken” might become the “sacred chicken.” Through field documentation, urban farm observations, and material experiments, it constructs a suspended installation capable of triggering soundscapes: yak hair, chicken feathers, and chicken sounds are re-woven into interactive sensory bodies. The work uses materials as a medium to examine how “sacredness” is reconfigured, reflecting on possibilities of domestication, consumption, and cross-species ethics while evoking a renewed perception of urban life.
