This project uses the maid café as a lens to trace the maid figure from colonial domestic labor to an affective commodity within Japan’s moe culture, and finally to its reverse circulation in contemporary British consumption. Through AI-generated videos, live-action reshoots, hyperreal food replicas, and a reconstructed maid café set as a physical installation, the work examines power, emotional commodification, and how standardized performance trains or destabilizes the body. The final output includes multi-channel video, physical staging, and a publication.
