ECHO is a sound-based installation that explores how an individual voice survives, transforms, or disappears within a collective environment.
Through a series of resonant bowls, one golden bowl representing the individual, and multiple silver bowls representing the collective noise. The work transforms an abstract sociological question into a tangible listening experience.
The installation is activated through proximity: from a distance, the silver bowls merge into a single cloud of sound, echoing the overwhelming noise of the crowd. Only by physically leaning in can the listener uncover the clear voice inside the golden bowl.
Listening becomes an intentional, embodied act, mirroring how individuality often requires attention and closeness to be recognized. The work invites viewers to reflect on the fragile balance between belonging and visibility, and to consider how easily one can disappear or be heard within a group.
ECHO is an adaptable installation whose soundscape can shift with new texts, stories, or community voices, allowing it to evolve across public spaces, galleries, schools, protests, and any setting where collective behavior meets personal identity, and where unheard voices need to be amplified.
