Under Table
Linshi Li
Linshi Li’s project begins with an observation of the growing anxiety among young adults who spend long hours working at desks. It explores how sound, touch, and posture can create a transitional space within everyday work settings. The project transforms the overlooked area beneath the desk into an embodied metaphor, allowing people to shift from the public state of “on the desk” to the private state of “under the desk.” Through building a shelter for listening, breathing, and feeling, soft materials and responsive sounds invite a gentle transition from tension to calm, from external focus to inner awareness. By experimenting with form, texture, and sound, the work explores how sensory design can help restore attention and emotional balance, turning the private space under the desk into a place for healing and quiet reflection.
