Abebe: Collective Cradle of Memory

Jingchi’s project explores how touch and materiality preserve intimate childhood memories. Through research on comfort objects and hands-on textile workshops, she reimagines the baby mobile as a large participatory installation. Each hanging piece—made from embroidery, wool felt, or shrink plastic—represents personal “Abebe” stories collected from individuals. Together they form a shared archive of comfort, asking how design might translate invisible feelings of care into tangible, collective memory.
