Chimera is a performance project that visualizes foreign language anxiety through a fragmented hybrid puppet carried by the performer. The puppet, assembled from symbols drawn from both Eastern and Western cultures, represents a self repeatedly dismantled and reconstructed under linguistic pressure and cultural negotiation.

The performer carries the puppet as a burdened second self, while the true self remains hidden behind a shared mask. Without spoken language, the piece relies on bodily tension, restricted movement, and the unstable relationship between human and puppet to explore muted expression and cultural displacement.

The entire work is filmed in London’s Chinatown, where the layered languages and cultural textures provide a quiet, natural resonance with the piece’s fractured sense of self.
